New Delhi, July 16 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condoled the deaths of two people in a building collapse incident in Mumbai city's Dongri area.

Modi said the incident left him 'anguished'.

" Collapse of a building in Mumbai’s Dongri is anguishing. My condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. I hope the injured recover soon. Maharashtra Government, NDRF and local authorities are working on rescue operations & assisting those in need: PM @narendramodi," PMO India tweeted.

At least two people were killed as a building collapsed in Mumbai's Dongri area on Tuesday, officials said.

Several people are feared to be trapped under the debris.

Three National Disaster Response Force teams are working at the spot to rescue the trapped people.

BMC officials have blamed the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) and said that the body never has funds to renovate and repair buildings that are old and dilapidated, Times Now reported.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said the main focus of the government at this moment is on the rescue operation.
