Mumbai Building Collapse: 15 killed, 34 injured, several still trapped

Mumbai, Aug 31 (IBNS) : The toll in the Mumbai house collapse has shot up to 15 while 34 people, including six firemen are injured as rescue operation is still underway, reports said.

Several people are still believed to be trapped inside the debris of the five-storied century-old residential building that collapsed at the  congested  Bhendi Bazaar  area in south Mumbai  collapsed on Thursday morning.

The 125-old  residential building, named Husseini, located near JJ Junction in Pakmodia street, reportedly collapsed around 8.30 am.

Ambulances, 10 fire brigades and  90National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been rushed to Husseini Building, which was located in a busy market area.

According to reports, 28 people have been rescued so far. .

Mumbai experienced incessant downpour for the last few days which may have caused the building collapse.

In the past one month this is the third incident of building collapse in Mumbai.
