Guwahati, Apr 19 (IBNS): Following allege payoffs to CID officials in connection with the multi-crore rupees scam in Assam agriculture department, the investigation agency has decided to probe against its officials.

ADGP of Assam police CID YK Gautam on Wednesday said that, following the directive by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the investigation agency has decided to probe against its officials who had allegedly taken bribes from some contractors in connection with the multi-crore rupees scam in agriculture department.

Earlier, a contractor Dipul Barman, who was arrested with two others by the sleuths of CID said that, some CID officials have taken bribes from some contractors and agriculture department officials in connection with the scam.

“Most of CID officials have been managed. I appeal to the Assam CM to make CID corruption free,” the arrested contractor said before media.

After allegations against the CID officials emerged, Sonowal had directed the CID to initiate a probe against the officials who have taken bribes.

The investigation agency on Tuesday arrested three contractors allegedly involved in the scam.

The sleuths of CID also arrested seven other officials of agriculture department.
