Modi's BJP eyes landslide win in Gujarat, close contest in Himachal Pradesh

| @indiablooms | Dec 08, 2022, at 04:05 pm

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is eyeing to storm back to power for the seventh consecutive term in Gujarat, which went to polls on Dec 1 and 5.

As per the recent trends, the BJP is leading in 158 seats, Congress in 16, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in six and two Independents.

The elections in 2022 were a three-cornered fight with the AAP challenging the BJP but seemed couldn't make a mark as the saffron camp has increased its vote share as compared to the results that came out five years ago.

The Congress, which had given BJP a run for their money in 2017, is staring at a humiliating defeat.

In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP is fighting to change the norm of electing alternate governments every five years.

As per the recent trends, the Congress is leading in 33 seats as compared to BJP's 31. Four Independents are in the lead too.
