Amethi, Mar 3 (IBNS): Visiting Congress president Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha constituency Amethi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the AK-203 rifles to be manufactured in the newly-launched Kalashnikov rifles unit in Uttar Pradesh will give strength to India security forces in their fight against terrorism.

At  Kauhar in Amethi, PM dedicated the Indo-Russia Rifles Pvt Limited to the nation.

The Indo-Russia Rifles Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between India’s Ordnance factory and a Russian firm, is a milestone in Indo-Russian cooperation.

At the Korwa Ordnance Factory, the latest series of the iconic Kalashnikov rifles will be made.

"The rifles are going to give an extra advantage to our security forces during their fight against terrorists and Maoists," Modi said.

He said the factory will give new employment opportunity to the youth of the nation.

"It is also important for the security and defence of the country," he said.

Hitting out at the Opposition, Modi said: "Some people only think about votes and then forget the voters of the nation. We are trying to give strength to the poor and make sure they come out of poverty," he said.

Modi, earlier in the day visited Patna and addressed a rally in the Bihar capital.
