New Delhi, Aug 29 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will learn from the historic city of Kyoto in Japan during his visit to the Asian nation beginning on Aug 30 so that the ideas can be used for betterment of Varanasi, the holy city in Uttar Pradesh on the banks of river Ganga that voted him to power.

According to an NDTV report,  Modi is expected to travel first to the historic city of Kyoto to meet Japanese premier Shinzo Abe.

From there Modi will learn more about smart cities, said the report.

Modi wants to give Varanasi a facelift and it is among ten holy cities chosen for such improvement.

Narendra Modi on Tuesday said his visit to the Asian nation will boost relationship between the two nations.

He even tweeted in Japanese ahead of the visit and earlier said: "On 30th August I will begin my visit to Japan. I am keenly looking forward to the visit, which will boost relations between our 2 nations.Japan visit will be my first bilateral visit outside the subcontinent."

"I see the Japan visit as an opportunity to take our ties with Japan to a new level and increase cooperation in various fields.I will visit Tokyo and Kyoto, and will interact with all sections of Japanese society from students, political leaders to captains of industry," he said.

"The scale of innovation and level of precision among the people of Japan is admirable. Both our nations can learn a lot from each other. Am particularly excited to meet Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. I deeply respect his leadership and enjoy a warm relationship with him from previous meetings," Modi said.

Modi's entourage included top industrialists of India like Mukesh Ambani of Reliance and Azim Premji of software bellwether Wipro. The PM will seek Japanese support in infrastructural developments, including the high speed bullet train project.
