New Delhi, Aug 19 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday spoke to Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy and discussed the flood situation in the southern state.

Modi promised to provide support with regard to rescue and relief operations to the state.

"Spoke to Karnataka CM Shri @hd_kumaraswamy Ji regarding the flood situation in parts of the state. Extended all possible support in the rescue and relief operations. I pray for the safety and well-being of those in the flood-affected areas. @CMofKarnataka," Modi tweeted.

Heavy rains which resulted in floods and landslides hit Karnataka's Kodagu district in recent times.

Apart from Karnataka, another southern state Kerala has been badly hit by floods.

More than 300 lives have been claimed by flood-related incidents in Kerala so far.

Modi last week undertook an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Kerala.
