Modi distorts Bhagvad Gita to suits his needs : Rahul Gandhi in Himachal Pradesh
Shimla, Nov 6 (IBNS) : Assailing Narendra Modi for his performance, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that the Prime Minister distorts a saying from the Bhagvad Gita to suit his needs.
"It says in the Gita, 'Do your work, don't worry about the fruits of your labour'. Modiji's interpretation is 'Eat up the fruits of others' labour, don't worry about doing any work'", media reports quoted Gandhi as saying.
He was addressing an election rally in Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh on the penultimate day of campaigning.
Citing data from Niti Aayog to praise Himachal Pradesh government's development agenda, Gandhi made a comparison between the progress made in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, ruled respectively by the BJP and Congress.
Using government's data on education, healthcare and immunisation, the Congress Vice President put Himachal Pradesh ahead of Gujarat, saying "We work hard. We work day and night, unlike the Modi government which only makes tall promises."
On Sunday, the PM said that the elections in Himachal Pradesh have become "one-sided" as the Congress has conceded defeat by "running away from the battlefield."
Rahul, in reply on Sunday, asked the Modi Government to "vacate its seat" if it finds itself unable to counter price rise and unemployment.
Himachal Pradesh will go to polls for 68 assembly seats on November 9. The votes will be counted on December 18 along with those in Gujarat.
