Modi assumes the role of an Opposition leader : Assam CM

Guwahati, Oct 31 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assumed the role of an opposition leader in the ongoing election campaign for Bihar Assembly Elections.

In a statement, Gogoi said that the manner PM Modi has been canvassing for Bihar Assembly Elections has diminished the stature of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Gogoi said the role PM Modi has been playing in Bihar should have been played by Sushil Kumar Modi who is the opposition leader in Bihar Legislative Assembly.

“The BJP led NDA Government came to power after making numerous hollow promises and now after coming to power instead of fulfilling its promises ditched the countrymen into predicament. Instead of steering the Nation to the so called rhetoric ‘Acche Din’ dragged it (Nation) into a mess,” Gogoi said.

Gogoi also called upon the people of Bihar not to be swayed by false promises of PM Modi.

The Assam CM took a dig at the Centre for growing intolerance and creating an uncanny situation of hatred in the country.

“A series of protests by the litterateurs, artistes, cine personalities, historians and scientists testified the increasing intolerance in the country which is very unfortunate. If the situation remains unchecked country’s credibility at National and International forum will be at stake,” the Assam CM said.

“What has surprised the conscientious circle of the country is PM Modi’s mute role? Though the Prime Minister has responded at last, he could not do anything substantial to raise the morale of all sections of the people of the country. Bestowing the role of fighting against all sorts of disturbances and poverty on to the people, PM Modi  rather made his stand clear,” Gogoi said.
