MNS to contest Maharashtra Assembly polls

| @indiablooms | Sep 30, 2019, at 04:05 pm

Mumbai, Sep 30 (UNI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray on Monday announced that his party will contest the Maharashtra Assembly election on October 21.

Addressing the party officials here, Thackeray said, 'We will contest the Assembly elections and shall also win. The candidatures and the seats which we shall contest will be announced in the next couple of days,'

Though the exact number of seats MNS will contest is not clear, party circles indicate that it may be around 125 in areas where the party has good following.

There is no clarity on whether the party will enter into any tie-ups with other parties or alliances, though party leaders claim they would win sufficient seats to emerge as 'king-maker' in case the other two main alliances fail to get majority.

Thackeray had shot to fame in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections when he attacked and exposed the ruling BJP-led NDA at the centre with his famous, 'Laav Re Video” (Play The Video) at his public meetings, earning the ire of the government, as his party was not contesting any seat.

With the MNS’ entry into the poll fray, the state electorate has a plateful of choices before them besides the two main ruling and opposition fronts.
