Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata celebrates Mother Teresa's canonisation
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) arranged an event outside the Mother House, where TMC lawmakers Idrish Ali and Nayna Banerjee were present.
A large number of general people from all communities and religions also gathered.
A stage has been made in front of Mother House, where the canonisation event in Vatican is being screened live.
Paul Laurance, who came from New Zealand, told IBNS: "Everyone in the World knows about the sacrifices and works of Mother Teresa. A large number of people were touched by her hands. Unfortunately, I could not meet her when Mother was alive."
"I could go to Vatican City in Rome to join her canonisation event. But I did not. I am here on this great day to visit a house, where Mother spent the maximum time in her life and died."
Mother Teresa, who dedicated her life serving the poor, is being made an official saint of the Roman Catholic Church on Sunday in the Vatican City, just 19 years after her death, even as Kolkata, the city she adopted for her work, savoured the golden moments.
"She encouraged us to follow in the footsteps of Jesus," said Sister Prema in Kolkata's MoC building on A J C Bose Road.
