Missing Indian-origin student Mohammed Abdul Arfath found dead in USA

An Indian-origin student, who went missing in the US, was found dead in  Cleveland, Ohio, the Indian Consulate in New York confirmed.

The deceased was identified as Mohammed Abdul Arfath.

The Consulate ensured the family members of the Indian student that is in touch with local agencies to ensure a thorough investigation into his death.

The Consulate posted on X: "Anguished to learn that Mr. Mohammed Abdul Arfath, for whom search operation was underway, was found dead in Cleveland, Ohio."

"Our deepest condolences to Mr Mohammed Arfath’s family," the post said.

"@IndiainNewYork is in touch with local agencies to ensure thorough investigation into Mr Mohammed Abdul Arfath’s death," the statement said.

" We are extending all possible assistance to the bereaved family to transport his mortal remains to India," the consulate said.

 Several deaths of Indian-origin people were reported in the US this year.

Four major cases were recorded this year

Recently, 19-year-old Shreyas Reddy Beniger, a student at the Linder School of Business in Ohio, was found dead.

Purdue University student Neel Acharya was found dead on the university campus, hours after his mother had reported him missing.

Vivek Saini, from Haryana, was hammered to death by a homeless man in Georgia's Lithonia on Jan 16.

Akul Dhawan, another Indian student, was found dead outside the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in January.
