Srinagar, Feb 23 (UNI) Condemning the nocturnal crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) leadership and workers and arrest of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik, moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) chief Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq said force and intimidation will only worsen the situation in the valley.

He said blaming the HC for all troubles is sheer propaganda and the fact remains that separatists are not associated to any individual or organisation, indirectly referring to recent the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) fidayeen attack on CRPF convoy at Awantipora in Pulwama that left 44 personnel dead on February 14, evoking strong reaction from the Centre and people across the country.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mirwaiz, who is a member of the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), also comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mohammad Yaseen Malik, said ''Strongly condemn the nocturnal crackdown on Jamat-e-Islami leadership and cadres and the arrest of Yasin Malik.

''Such illegal and coercive measures against Kashmiri's are futile and will not change realities on ground. Force and intimidation will only worsen the situation.''
''That by removing security cover, booking resistance leaders by NIA and ED, incarcerating and caging and harassing them, leadership will not change its stance as our stand is based on principles and truth that people of Kashmir have to be given their legitimate right.

''State narrative to blame Hurriyat for all the troubles is sheer propaganda, the fact remains that Kashmir movement is not associated to any individual or organisation, but it's a mass peoples' movement for the realization of their genuine political aspirations. want to tell New Delhi,'' he added.

After the Pulwama attack, the state administration had removed security cover of separatist leaders, including Mirwaiz.
