Militants gun down Sarpanch in Jammu & Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 18 (IBNS) Militants on Thursday night shot dead opposition Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) Sarpanch at Awantipora area in South Kashmir's Pulwama district late Thursday evening, a police officer said on Friday.

He said that suspected militants fired at Mohammad Amin Pandit, son of Abdul Ahad Pandit and a resident of Gulzarpora, outside his residence at around 9:30 pm.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the suspected militants.
