Srinagar, Dec 27 (IBNS): Suspected militants opened fire on police party in Lassipora area of Pulwama district of south Kashmir before escaping from the spot.

According to reports, police were checking vehicles in Lassipora area when they came under fire after stopping load carrier for checking on Tuesday evening.

“As soon as the load carrier stopped, few militants came down from it and opened fire on police party. The fire was retaliated,” they said.

However, the militants and the driver of the load carrier fled from the spot taking advantage of the darkness, said a police official.

He said a search operation has been launched to nab the militants.
