Indian PM Narendra Modi on Monday held a telephone conversation with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, strongly condemning the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia amid escalating tensions in West Asia following US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

According to an official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders discussed the rapidly evolving situation in the region.

“Prime Minister Modi strongly condemned the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia, noting that they violate its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement said.

Both leaders agreed that the earliest restoration of regional peace and stability remains of utmost importance.

Modi also thanked the Crown Prince for ensuring the well-being of the Indian community in Saudi Arabia during these challenging times.

In a post on X, Modi said: “Discussed the evolving situation in West Asia with Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman. India condemns the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia in violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. We agreed that earliest restoration of regional peace and stability is of utmost importance. I thanked him for looking after the well-being of the Indian community in these difficult times.”

The Prime Minister also spoke with Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, reaffirming India’s solidarity with Bahrain following the recent attacks.

“He expressed India’s firm solidarity with the people of Bahrain during this difficult hour,” the PMO statement said.

In a separate conversation with Abdullah II, Modi conveyed deep concern over the escalating regional situation and reiterated India’s support for peace, security and the well-being of the Jordanian people.

“Spoke with His Majesty King Abdullah II, the King of Jordan. Conveyed our deep concern at the evolving situation in the region. We reaffirm our support for peace, security and the well-being of the people of Jordan. I thanked him for taking care of the Indian community in Jordan in this difficult hour,” Modi posted on X.

The developments come after Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in US-Israeli strikes, triggering retaliatory attacks by Tehran on multiple countries in the Middle East, including the UAE.
