Met office says cyclone Kyant unlikely to make landfall but predicts heavy rainfall in eastern coastal states
According to a tweet by IMD, "CS Kyant weakened into a Deep Depression in early morning of 27th. Will weaken further during next 72 hours."
In a release published at 8.30 am, the IMD said, "The Deep Depression over westcentral Bay of Bengal moved further west-southwestwards in past 06 hours with speed 17 kmph and lay centred at 0530 hrs IST of 27 th October, 2016 over westcentral Bay of Bengal, near Latitude 15.7º N and Longitude 85.5º E, about 320 km southeast of
Vishakhapatnam and 460 km east of Machilipatnam and 600 km east-northeast of Nellore. It is most likely to move west-southwestwards and weaken further into a depression during next 24 hours."
Squally winds and rough sea have been predicted for Andhra Pradesh and fishermen have been asked not to go out to sea in the next 48 hours.
