Meghalaya's missing trader robbed in Guwahati, reaches home after walking for three days

Guwahati, Nov 29 (IBNS) : A bizarre news came to light as a small trader, who reportedly drugged and robbed in Guwahati, has finally reached his home in Meghalaya's North Garo Hills district after walking for three days, covering around 90 kms.

According to reports, two traders, hailing from Bolmedang area near Mendipathar in North Garo Hills district, were reportedly missing from Guwahati on Nov 25 night and an FIR was lodged by a relative of one victim person at Kharkutta police station.

The two missing persons were identified as Karhen Sangma and Jibil Sangma and they had come to Guwahati for selling vegetables in Guwahati from Dudhnoi on Nov 25 last.

A top police official of North Garo Hills district said that, the wife of Karhen Sangma said that her husband had not received her unending phone calls.

The top police official said that Jibil Sangma (35), accompanied by his uncle Karhen Sangma (52), had finally reached his home but whereabouts of Karhen is yet to be known.

"Jibil stated that, they were drugged and robbed in Guwahati. When he woke up at New Bongaigaon railway station, he found that his money and phone was stolen. After lost everything, his condition became worse as nobody offered him food or cash. He starved and forced to eat food from the waste bins," the police official said.

The police official further said that, after lost everything, Jibil started walking from New Bongaigaon railway station on railway tracks and reached his hometown after three days covering around 90 kms and was admitted at hospital for weakness.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya police and their counterparts of Assam jointly launched operation to trace the another missing trader.
