Lucknow, Feb 6 (IBNS): It seems that BSP supremo Mayawati has finally joined microblogging site Twitter which is used by nearly all top political leaders of the nation including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.

The name of Mayawati's Twitter handle is @sushrimmayawati.

On Jan 22, a tweet was posted for the first time on the handle which read: "Hello brothers and sisters. With due respect let me introduce myself to the Twitter family. This is my opening and inauguration. @sushrimayawati is my official Twitter handle for all my future interactions, comments and updates. With warm regards. Thank you. "

Bihar leader and Lalu Yadav's son Tejashwi Yadav said he had urged the BSP leader to join Twitter during their meeting on Jan 13 in Lucknow.

Welcoming Mayawati, Yadav tweeted: "Finally glad to see you here. Happy that you acknowledged and respected my request of joining twitter during our meeting in Lucknow on 13th January. Warm Regards."

Mayawati joined the world of Twitter just months before the country is gearing up to vote a new Parliament.

The account is followed by 5974 people.

However, Mayawati is following just one- 'Twitter Support'.
