Massive searches on in nine villages of Kashmir's Shopian district

Srinagar, Aug 19 (IBNS) : Security forces on Saturday launched Cordon-and -Search Operation (CASO) in nine villages of South Kashmir's Shopian districts as part of a major crackdown following spurt in militant activities, police said.

The Shopian Police, 62 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 3 RR and the 14th Battalion of Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF) are conducting the search operation.

According to a police official, the operation has been launched to neutralise suspected militants in the district..

Speaking to India Blooms, the police official said, “after inputs of some militants are hiding in the area security forces have  launched the search operation. Conducting searches is our priority is to save residents and public property of the area,”

The villages under the cordon are Chakoora, Mantribug, Zaipora, Pratabpora, Takipora , Ranipora, Ratnipora, Dangam and Wangam.
