Manish Sisodia is number one of 15 accused in CBI FIR on Delhi liquor policy: Report

New Delhi/IBNS: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is number one on a list of 15 accused as per the Central Bureau Investigation (CBI)'s FIR on liquor policy violations, media reports said.

The offences listed in the 11-page document of the FIR are corruption, criminal conspiracy and falsification of accounts, according to an NDTV report.

This comes as CBI Friday morning raided Sisodia's residence over the allegations of corruption in the Delhi liquor policy, triggering a massive showdown between the ruling parties of Centre and the capital city, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) respectively.

Sisodia, who is Excise Minister, has strongly denied any wrongdoing.

Sisodia took to Twitter in the morning to say, "CBI is at my residence. I will welcome him. I am extremely honest. I am making a future for lakhs of children.

"It is extremely unfortunate that people, who do good work in our country, are harassed in this way. This is why India is yet to become the number one country."

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has also firmly backed his deputy.

Three officers are named in the FIR - former Excise Commissioner A Gopi Krishna, Deputy Commissioner Anand Tiwari and Assistant Commissioner Pankaj Bhatnagar.

After the allegations brought by the Centre, the CBI filed a First Information Report (FIR).

The probe agency is investigating the Delhi Excise Policy which has handed over liquor shop licences to private players.

It raided Sisodia's residence for over 12 hours. Along with Sisodia's residence, 20 other locations across seven states were also raided by the central probe agency.

The CBI alleges that liquor companies and middlemen were "actively involved in irregularities in the framing and implementation" of the excise policy.

The agency also claims "close associates of  Sisodia - Amit Arora, Dinesh Arora and Arjun Pandey - collected "commission" from liquor licensees and delivered them to "the accused public servants".
