Manipur : Three girls injured in grenade explosion

Guwahati, Oct 18 (IBNS) : At least three girls, including a minor, were injured in an explosion in Manipur's capital Imphal on Monday night, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred when a hand grenade, reportedly hurled by miscreants, exploded near the residence of a contractor in Imphal’s Tangkhul Avenue.

Manipur police said the miscreants hurled the hand grenade targeting the residence of Chelneil, who is also the president of Tangkhul Contractor’s Association Ukhrul.

The injured girls were rushed to Raj Medicity hospital.

Police said that condition of one of the girls, identified as Sunita Jajo, was critical.

Sunita’s younger sister Chuichui and another eight year-old, Leiyarel, sustained minor injuries.

Top police and army officials  immediately rushed to the area and launched operation to nab the miscreants.
