Man murders wife in Kolhapur

Kolhapur: A man who murdered his wife as she was unable to bear a son was arrested from Donvade village in Karveer tehsil of this district.

The couple had two daughters, and the accused was anxious for a son.

According to Karveer police, the arrested suspect has been identified as Eknath Patil (35), resident of Donvade village.

He wanted a boy and therefore was harassing his wife (Ashwini) mentally and physically.

Saturday morning, in a feud, he attacked Ashwini and beat her, due to which she died on the spot but he told the police that she died due to electric shock but in detailed investigation, the murder was disclosed.

Police arrested Eknath and are investigating further.
