Srinagar/UNI: A man was injured when unidentified gunmen fired at him in the summer capital, Srinagar, on Wednesday evening.

The firing incident comes at a time when foreign envoys from 23 different countries are on a two-day long visit to J&K to assess the overall ground situation in the Union Territory (UT).

Official sources said that unidentified gunmen fired at a man near Krishna Dabba in Sonwar in Srinagar on Wednesday evening.

''The man was injured in the attack,'' they said, adding the wounded was rushed to SHMS hospital, where his health condition is stated to be critical.

They said that the gunmen managed to escape under the cover of darkness. ''Security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to trace the attackers,'' they added.
