Man held with fake currency notes of Rs 5.65 lakh in Assam's Sonitpur

Guwahati: Police arrested a person along with fake Indian currency notes valuing Rs 5.65 lakh in Assam's Sonitpur district.

The arrested person was identified as Jogen Nath alias Madhab Nath.

Based on secret information, police on Sunday launched an operation at Beseria Pukhuria area near Tezpur and arrested the person.

Birinchi Borah, Additional Superintendent of Police of Sonitpur district said that, police recovered 239 numbers of fake currency notes of Rs 2000 and 175 numbers of fake currency notes of Rs 500 valuing RS 5.65 lakh in possession from the person.

"We launched the operation based on source information and arrested the person named Jogen Nath alias Madhab Nath from Beseria Pukhuria area. Our investigation is on," Birinchi Borah said.
