New Delhi/IBNS: The West Bengal government on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court challenging an order of the Calcutta High Court directing CBI investigation into the allegations of post-poll violence in the state.

According to reports, the state government's plea is yet to be numbered by the country's apex court's registry.

Earlier on Aug 19, a five-judge larger bench of the Calcutta HC had ordered a court-monitored CBI probe into the cases related to murder, rape and crime against women which were reported or registered across the state since the results of Bengal assembly polls 2021 were declared.
