Mamata Banerjee to protest against fuel price hike in Bengal's Siliguri

| @indiablooms | Mar 07, 2021, at 06:26 pm

Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to lead a protest march on Sunday at Siliguri against the hike in fuel and LPG prices by the Centre.

In a tweet on Sunday morning, Banerjee wrote: "BJP is looting people by regularly hiking LPG prices. Women have been hit the hardest & I’m disgusted at Centre’s lack of intent to cut taxes & lessen their burden. In protest, today I’ll be leading an all women michil at Siliguri. REDUCE LPG PRICES NOW!
#IndiaAgainstLPGLoot."

The protest march coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mega rally in Kolkata's Brigade Parade Ground on Sunday.

This is Modi's first rally in the state after the announcement of the Assembly poll schedule.

As per reports, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is calling this rally the culmination of what they call the "Portiborton Yatra" (a campaign for change) in West Bengal.

The BJP has made elaborate arrangements for the rally to be a grand success with a record crowd presence.

Banners, posters and cut-outs of PM Modi have been put up across the city to welcome him. LED screens have been installed on the ground to broadcast PM’s speech.
