Mamata Banerjee reaches Delhi for Opposition's Save Democracy Rally
New Delhi, Feb 12 (IBNS): West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has reached the national capital for the promised "Save Democracy Rally" scheduled to take place on Wednesday, reports said.
This will be the second show of Opposition unity ahead of the Lok Sabha elections that will take place by May.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is already in New Delhi and NDTV, quoting Trinamool sources said tomorrow's party would be attended by former prime ministers and current and former chief ministers.
As of now, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Naidu will accompany Mamata at Jantar Mantar, Delhi's designated protest site. Who else will attend is not known yet.
Mamata had called off her dharna in Kolkata earlier this month over the standoff between the Kolkata police and the CBI and said she, along with other Opposition leaders, would take up the issue in Delhi.
At the previous mega show of strength by Opposition leaders in Kolkata, the representatives of 23 parties had taken part.
Two major Opposition players that had stayed away from the Kolkata meeting were Odisha's ruling BJD and Telangana's ruling TRS. They are not expected to attend tomorrow's rally either.
