Mali hotel attack: 3 killed, 80 hostages freed, 20 Indians rescued

Bamako, Nov 20 (IBNS): At least three people were killed after gunmen stormed into a hotel in Mali capital Bamako on Friday and took 170 people as hostage, media reports said.
Among those who were staying in the hotel were 20 Indians. 
 
"#MaliAttack : Acc'g to current info there are 20 Indians staying in the hotel. Our Amb (Embassy) is continuously in touch with them & monitor'g sitn (situation)," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.
 
However, all the 20 Indians are reported to be safe.
 
"Good news! All 20 Indians in the hotel in Bamako have been safely evacuated. Our Ambassador in Mali has confirmed. #MaliAttack," Swarup tweeted.
 
According to local TV reports, 80 hostages have been freed.
 
"The Embassy is aware of an ongoing active shooter operation at the Radisson Hotel," the US Embassy here tweeted.
 
" The U.S. Embassy staff has been asked to shelter in place. All U.S. citizens should shelter in place," the Embassy said.
 
"Private U.S. citizens are encouraged to contact their families. Monitor local media for updates. US citizens should adhere to the instructions of local authorities and monitor local media," it said.
