Kolkata, Oct 19 (IBNS): A massive fire broke out at a multi-storey commercial building in central Kolkata's Jawaharlal Nehru Road area on Thursday morning, reports said.

According to reports, the fire was first seen at around 10:30 am. on the 15th floor of Jeevan Sudha building and it spread to three other floors very quickly.

As many as 10 fire tenders along with a hydraulic ladder, local police and Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel rushed to the scene.

Firemen are currently fighting to douse the  blaze.

A fire official said that the source of the fire has been identified.

"Server room of a nationalized bank on the 15th floor of Jeevan Sudha building is possibly the main source of the fire and our men have reached there," the official told IBNS.

No casualty has been reported so far in the incident. State fire and emergency services officials confirmed that none is trapped inside the burning floors.

Due to the incident, traffic movement on  Jawaharlal Nehru Road has been partly restricted.

"Due to sudden fire on a building on 42/C J.L. Nehru Road, we have diverted buses & minibuses on J.L. Nehru Road (towards Exide) from J & N Island towards KP Road," an official of Kolkata Traffic Police told IBNS.

"Around 20 minutes ago, the diversion was withdrawn from J & N Island," the official added.
