Maharashtra political tussle: Shiv Sena likely to approach SC against Guv's decision

Mumbai/UNI/IBNS: Shiv Sena may approach the Supreme Court against the decision of the Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, who has not given 'more time' to form the government.

In this regard, Sena President Uddhav Thackeray has reportedly contacted the Congress leader and Supreme Court lawyer Kapil Sibal.

The Union Cabinet has recommended President's Rule in Maharashtra where a political tussle is going on ever since the results of the Assembly polls were declared, media reports said on Tuesday.

Maharashtra should be placed under President's Rule, the Union Cabinet has recommended, according to sources, reported NDTV.

The election result was declared on Oct 24.

After the BJP and the Shiv Sena failed to show enough numbers to form a government, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari invited the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to perform it in the state which witnessed the Bharatiya Janata Party emerging as the top party.

Three Congress leaders- Ahmed Patel, Mallikarjun Kharge and K C Venugopal- are on their way to Mumbai to hold talks with NCP chief Sharad Pawar whose party has been given deadline by 8:30 pm to stake claim to form the next state government.

Shiv Sena is considered as one of the oldest allies of the BJP.

However, the recent developments following the Maharashtra Assembly polls have pointed to a rift arising between the two parties.

Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Sunday invited leaders of the second-largest party, the Shiv Sena, to form the government, following the refusal of BJP to do so.
