Nagpur/UNI: In view of the rising COVID-19 cases, Nagpur Guardian Minister and Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut said on Saturday that the lockdown has been extended till March 31.

However, essential commodities shops like grocery, vegetable, fruits, meat and others will remain open till 4 pm, Raut said.

He further added that restaurants and eateries will remain open till 7 pm, while they are allowed to carry out home delivery till 11pm.

Stating that the coronavirus situation in the district was serious in view  of the daily spike in cases, Mr Raut said efforts will be made to vaccinate more people daily in the district.

“We are targeting 10 lakh vaccinations in the district. We will be increasing the number of vaccination centers to 150 in the rural as well as urban areas of the district very soon,” the minister said.

He also said that police have been given orders to take strict action against people found loitering around in the public places.

He also apprised the media that samples have been sent to Mumbai to ascertain whether there is any case of the new variants of the coronavirus, which was discovered in one woman who had come to Nagpur from Wardha.

He appealed to the people to co-operate with the administration in the crisis and follow the guidelines issued by the administration from time to time.
