Maharashtra: Lightning claims 4 lives in Marathwada

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jul 20 (UNI) Four people were killed when lightning struck them during the past 24 hours in Hingoli and Jalna districts of Marathwada region. 

In the first incident in Hingoli's Fata village, two women were killed as lightning struck them when they were engaged in farm work in Vasmat taluka.

The third person was killed in Uda village.

The deceased were identified as Gayabai Kakade(50) and Lochana Kakade(16) and Baburao Chavan(62).

A report from Jalna said in Jaffrabad taluka, 36-year old farmer Eknath Devale was killed on the spot after being struck by lightning. One Jagdev Kadam was injured in the incident.

Moderate rains were reported last evening in Aurangabad, Jalna and Beed districts after prolonged dry spell.
