Maharashtra: Court acquits 4 accused of dacoity in actor's house

Thane, May 15 (UNI) A court in Maharashtra's Thane district has acquitted four people of the charges of dacoity in house of a television actor here in 2016.

District and Sessions judge S B Bahalkar on Tuesday said the prosecution miserably failed to prove beyond reasonable doubts the charges against accused under sections 395,397 and 458 of the IPC.

On February 3, 2016, actor Lavi Sasan, residing at Mira Road, had gone to her aunt's house to attend a birthday party. Her neighbours called her up, saying her house was burgled.

After the actor reached home, she found that her house was burgled and robbers decamped with booty worth Rs 4,07,200.

The dacoits also thrashed the housing society's watchman when he stopped them from entering the premises.

On February 27, police arrested Sanjay Kalyan Kale (28), Ramesh Kalyan Kale (33), Suresh Vishram Kale (38) and Ashok Rajendra Shinde Raja Vishram Kale (40).

Advocates of the accused pointed out that identification parade of their clients.
The CCTV footage showed the faces of the accused covered, and also there were no recovery of the booty said to have been stolen by them, the defence argued.

They prayed that the benefit of doubts be given to the accused who need to be freed as they are under arrest since February 27,2016.
After hearing the argument, the court acquitted the four accused.
