Maharashtra CM gives police 48 hours to arrest church vandals

Mumbai, Mar 23(IBNS) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday asked police to arrest within 48 hours the persons who had attacked a church in Navi Mumbai early on Saturday.
Closed-circuit camera footage captured three motorcycle-borne masked men throwing stones and  cracked the glass case of  at the St. George Catholic statue.
 
The Opposition raised an uproar in the state assembly and the Nationalist Congress Party walked out of the house over the issue.
 
.Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse kicked up a controversy saying  there could be a foreign hand behind the attack.
 
Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged a crackdown on religious violence and to ensure freedom of worship for all faiths in the wake of a series of attacks on churches across the country.
