Maharashtra: 8 booked for looting cable worth Rs 6.77 lakhs from godown in Thane

Thane, Jul 19 (UNI) Eight people were booked on the alleged charges of dacoity into a cable go down and looting a material worth Rs 6.77 lakhs, the police said.

The police said around 0300 hrs on Thursday, eight unidentified people aged around 20 years weilding knives came into the company godown and tied the two watchmen who were in the godown and decamped with cables stock in the godown of the company.

The accused persons drilled hole in the wall of the adjoining godown of a company in Mankoli and got an entry in the godown where the victims were sleeping, the police said.

The victims got themselves rescued and rushed to the owner and complained about the incident of looting.

An offence was registered under sections 395 and 342 of the IPC and also sections 37(1) and 135 of the Mumbai Police Act with the Narpoli police station under Bhiwandi division on Thursday , police added.
