Maharashtra: 6 members of family of Thane booked in dowry case

Thane, Jul 19 (UNI) Six members of a family from Ulhasnagar of the district including four women have been booked on the alleged charges of harassing a housewife to bring Rs 25 lakhs as dowry, the police said on Friday.

In a complaint filed by the victim aged 27, it is said that she got married to this man who is also one of the accused on April 13,2017. The victim's family spent around Rs eight lakhs on engagement and marriage.

After an year, they started harassing her for a male child.

Later, they made a demand of Rs 25 lakhs from the victim's parents, which was not possible for her.

family following which she was driven away from her husband's home and sent to her parent's house, she said in a complaint.

Those who were booked under various sections of the IPC are Hari Kishore Wirvani, Kishore Wirvani, Duru Kishore Wirvani, Roma Wirvani, Ritu Wasvani, and Tanna Punjabi, police added.
