Madhya Pradesh gets first Muslim minster in 15 years

Bhopal, Dec 25 (IBNS): Madhya Pradesh's first Muslim minister in 15 years took oath here on Tuesday.

Arif Aqueel is the only representative of the Muslim community in the state government. Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath to 28 ministers on Tuesday,

Among the other ministers who took charge was senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s son Jaivardhan Singh.

Congress won 114 seats in the 231-seat Assembly in the recent elections ending the BJP government of Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Kamal Nath took oath as chief minister of the state on December 17.
