Madhuri Kanitkar becomes the third woman lieutenant general in Indian Army

New Delhi/IBNS: Major General Madhuri Kanitkar was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general becoming the third woman officer and paediatrician to hold the second highest post in the the Indian Army.

Madhuri Kanitkar has served the force for 37 years and was the former dean of Armed Forces Medical College Pune. She has been posted to Headquarters, Integrated Defence Staff under the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

Madhuri and her husband Rajiv, who is also a lieutenant general, will be the first couple to hold the rank in Army.
