LS polls: BJP workers celebrate in Guwahati after candidate announcement

Guwahati, Mar 21 (IBNS): The Assam BJP workers and supporters celebrated at the party office in Guwahati after the announcement of the first list of 182 candidates including eight from Assam.

The BJP workers welcomed Queen Ojha, the party candidate of Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency and shouted slogans as ‘Ek Baar Phir Modi Sarkar’.

The saffron party has fielded Deputy Speaker of Assam Assembly Kripanath Mallah as the candidate from Karimganj seat while Dr Rajdeep Roy from Silchar, Assam minister Tapan Gogoi from Jorhat, state BJP leader Dilip Saikia from Mangaldoi, Queen Ojha from Gauhati and Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Harensingh Bey.

Three sitting BJP MPs of Assam have been denied party ticket this time and they are Bijoya Chakraborty (Gauhati), Ramen Deka (Mangaldoi) and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa (Jorhat).

BJP’s Gauhati constituency candidate Queen Ojha said that she is very happy after hearing the announcement.
