Patna, Mar 23 (IBNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rebel Shatrughan Sinha has not been given a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha Election 2019 as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) released its candidate list for Bihar on Saturday.

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will contest from the Patna Sahib seat, which is presently held by Sinha, who has been vocal against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government at the Centre for quite some time.

Sinha had even attended the "United India Rally" hosted by West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata on Jan 19.

In another surprising move, BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain has not been given a ticket to contest the upcoming polls from Begusarai.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh is going to fight the polls from Begusarai.

Out of 40 Lok Sabha seats, the BJP and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) are fighting in 17 seats each while six seats have gone to the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).

In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the BJP had gained huge from Bihar paving the way for Modi to become the Prime Minister.

The 17th Lok Sabha election will begin on Apr 11 and end on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
