Lok Sabha Polls: JDS stakes claim for 10 seats during meeting with AICC President Rahul Gandhi

Bengaluru, Mar 6 (UNI) Former Prime Minister and JDS National President H D Devegowda during his talks with AICC President Rahul Gandhi in Delhi has reportedly staked claim for 10 Lok Sabha seats to his party in Karnataka and fight the elections jointly.

According to party sources, both the leaders, assisted by the AICC General Secretary and incharge of party affairs in Karkataka K C Venugopal and JDS National Spokesperson Danish Ali discussed about formalizing the seat sharing between two parties to contest for the General Elections.

The meeting took place on the backdrop of the State leaders of both the parties agreed to fight the coming LS elections in Karnataka unitedly.

While no decision taken as for as number of seats, each party should be allocated, the AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal have been entrusted the task of finalization of the seats sharing, after holding another round of meeting with the State party leaders, including former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and the Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara.

Stating that the final decision on the allocation of seats between the coalition partners are expected to be taken in Tomorrow’s Congress-JDS Co-ordination Committee meeting chaired by the former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, a JD(S) leader said that “with our leader (Devegowda) had staked claim for 10 seats and the same would be discussed during leaders meeting”.

According to party sources, the JD(S) had claimed Mandya, Hassan, Tumakuru, Shivamogga, Vijayapura, Mysuru, Bengaluru North, Chikkaballapura, Bidar and Chitradurga. While the Congress is being represented in Chikkaballapura (Veerappa Moily) and Tumakuru (Mudduhanumegowda), the BJP has its sitting MPs in all the other eight Constituencies, where JD(S) wishes to contest, the sources added.
