New Delhi, Jul 10 (UNI) Speaker Om Birla and members of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday greeted Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on his birthday and wished him long life.

Singh, who turned 68 today, was present in the House.

Birla said the senior leader has been member of Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council, Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha as well.

He wished the minister on behalf of the members and himself.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief and Home Minister Amit Shah also extended birthday greetings to Mr Singh and lauded the latter's role in strengthening BJP.

In 2013, as BJP president Rajnath Singh took a pioneering role in declaring Mr Modi as prime ministerial face.

While conducting the business, the Speaker advised the members not to speak each other or stand up in the House when the session is on.

Responding to him, Trinamool Congress floor leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay 'the Chair's suggestion was good and we will try to implement it.'
