LK Advani's wife passes away, President, PM mourn

New Delhi, Apr 6 (IBNS): Senior BJP leader LK Advani's wife Kamla Advani passed away on Wednesday, reports said.

She was 83.

President Pranab Mukherjee  condoled the passing away of  Kamla Advani.

In a condolence message to  Lal Krishna Advani, the President has said, “I am deeply distressed to learn about the sad demise of your wife, Kamla."

"She was the anchor of your life and constant companion through all ups and downs. I fondly recall her many visits to the Rashtrapati Bhavan accompanying you and her endearing presence. She was soft, cultured and left a lasting impression on whomsoever she met. As someone who lost his spouse recently, I feel your pain and sudden sense of loss," Mukherjee said.

"Please accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to all members of your family. I pray to the Almighty to give you and your family the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss,” the President said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Kamla Advani was an inspiring figure.

"Deeply pained & saddened by Kamla Advani ji's demise. She always inspired & motivated Karyakartas & was LK Advani ji's pillar of strength," Modi tweeted.

"I recall my many interactions with Kamla Advani ji. My thoughts are with the Advani family in this hour of grief. May her soul rest in peace," he said remembering Kamla Advani.
