'Let's go to Jantar Mantar': Arvind Kejriwal urges public to join protest hours after Sonam Wangchuk's removal

Kejriwal, who recently met Wangchuk at the protest venue, wrote on X: "Today, Sonam Wangchuk, Abhijit Dipke, and all these young people are fighting for the future of your children."

He further said: "Sitting at home won't work anymore. Now everyone must unite and take to the streets. Only then will something change in this country."

He asked people to reach Jantar Mantar, the epicentre of the protest in the city.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also criticised the action atken against Wangchuk and wrote on X: "The removal of Sonam Wangchuk ji from Jantar Mantar while he was on a non-violent hunger strike is wrong."

"Paper leaks, the rising cost of education, and student suicides are critical issues for India’s future," he said.

Woman throws ink at CJP chief

Meanwhile, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, who earlier in the day announced he would sit on a hunger strike after Wangchuk was removed, said a woman allegedly threw blue ink at him.

He shared a video on X where a woman could be seen throwing the ink at him.

The incident occurred while Dipke was addressing supporters at the protest venue.

The motive behind the woman's action is not yet known.

Responding to the incident, Dipke shared a post on X, writing: "Blue is my colour… Jai Bhim!"

Dipke on Saturday announced an indefinite hunger strike after climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was removed by police from Jantar Mantar on the 21st day of his fast.

Wangchuk, who had been on a hunger strike since June 28, was taken to a hospital in the national capital, prompting CJP members to allege that authorities had cracked down on the protest.

Delhi High Court had expressed concern

The police action came days after the Delhi High Court directed the Centre to ensure Wangchuk's health amid concerns over his prolonged fast.

According to media reports, Wangchuk has lost around 9 kg during his 21-day hunger strike.

Dipke says protest, Parliament march will continue

In a video message released later, Dipke said the agitation would continue despite Wangchuk's removal and confirmed that the planned march to Parliament on July 20 would go ahead as scheduled.
