Let us conserve each drop of water: PM Modi in Mann Ki Baat
New Delhi, May 22 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed his monthly radio address 'Mann Ki Baat' where he urged all citizens to conserve each drop of water in the wake of drought condition which is prevailing in the country.
"The heat is increasing day by day. The need of the hour is so conserve forest and also conserve water. These should be everyone's duty," Modi said.
He said, "Got the opportunity to meet CMs of drought affected states. Decided to meet every CM individually as opposed to calling all CMs together and having one meeting."
Modi informed that many states have undertaken "wonderful efforts" to mitigate the drought.
"This is cutting across party lines," he added.
"Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh have used technology very well to mitigate the drought. Jan Bhagidari is also vital," said he.
He urged that, "Let us pledge to conserve every drop of water."
Speaking about development, Modi said that his government seeks to establish a modern India.
"World is moving towards a cashless society and more technology is being used," said he.
"Through the JAM trinity we can move towards a cashless society," he added.
Speaking about Olympics, he said, "When we talk about the Olympics we do feel sad at the medal tally. But we need to create the right atmosphere to encourage athletes."
"Essential to be positive about our athletes. Let us not worry about the results," said he.
Modi said he is witnessing that football's popularity across India is increasing.
"I will say it again, please do not see everything as a win or loss. Its about sportsman spirit and creating the right atmosphere," the PM said.
