Lashkar associates nabbed with AK-47, magazines, cash in Ramban

Jammu, May 13 (UNI): In a joint operation, police and army personnel on Monday arrested two associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“On specific information regarding suspicious movement of some anti-national elements in Hara area of Gool, a joint operation was launched by the police along with Rashtriya Rifles and 9 Para at about 0330 hours,” a police spokesman here said.

He said that during the process of cordon and search, two suspects were apprehended along with arms and ammunition and they were identified as Showkat Ahmed Sheikh, resident of Charsoo, Awantipora, Pulwama and Taweel Mohiudin Dar, resident of Malipura, Kulgam.

“One AK 47 rifle, One AK 47 magazine, 30 rounds of AK 47 and Indian currency Rs 8,771, were recovered from their possession,” said the spokesman.

During preliminary investigations, the accused persons were found affiliated with LeT terrorist organisation and were acting on the instructions of one Naveed alias Abu Talla, an active militant of Lashkar.

A case under sections 121 A, 120 B, 122 RPC 13/17/19 ULA (P) Act has been registered and investigation was taken up, he said.
