Large number of arms-ammu, explosives recovered along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border

Guwahati: In a joint operation police and Indian Army on Wednesday recovered a large number of arms, ammunition, grenades, explosives in Assam's Sonitpur district along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

Based on intelligence input, troops of Indian Army and  Sonitpur district police launched a joint operation at Zero area under Missamari police station along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border and recovered a large quantity of arms, ammunition, explosives which were kept hidden underground in a trunk in jungle near Belsiri  river.

The team recoverd six hand made pistols, one hand made gun, one factory made pistol, one AK-47 magazine, six magazines of pistol, two hand grenades, 82 empty cartridges, 15 rounds of point 22 live ammunition, 4 packets of explosive powder,   25 kg of explosives, four detonators, two Pen pistols,  110 rounds of AK ammunition, 80 rounds of INSAS ammunition, 58 rounds of SLR (7.62 mm) ammunition, 32 rounds of LMG ammunition, three rounds of 9mm ammunition from the area.
