Lalit Modi threatens to sue Rahul Gandhi in UK court

New Delhi/IBNS: Former chief of IPL Lalit Modi has said he would sue Rahul Gandhi, who was recently disqualified as an MP after being convicted in the Modi surname case, for linking him to corruption and money laundering.

Announcing his decision to take legal action against the former Congress chief in a UK court on Twitter, Modi wrote he “looked forward to seeing him make a complete fool of himself".

Modi has been living in London since 2010 after facing allegations of financial irregularities in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

During the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign in a public rally in Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi had said, “How come all thieves have the common surname, Modi?"

His remark was seen as an insult to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and those who share the Modi surname as he clubbed them with Lalit Modi and fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi.

Slamming Rahul Gandhi, Lalit Modi questioned the grounds on which Rahul Gandhi accused him of being “fugitive of justice” and asserted that he has never been found guilty of any crime.

Sharpening his attack on Rahul Gandhi he said he has created a sports event that has generated nearly 100 billion dollars and claimed that his family has contributed more to India than the Gandhi family.

Modi challenged Gandhi to provide evidence for his allegations and expressed his eagerness to witness Gandhi's failure in court.

Lalit Modi further alleged that several Congress leaders owned properties in foreign countries and he can provide their addresses and images.

He further added that he would return to India as soon as the country passes strict libel laws.

Rahul Gandhi hasn’t so far responded to Modi's tweets threatening legal action against him.
