KP's Deputy Commissioner of Detective Department (II) Nagendra Nath Tripathi sent to Compulsory Waiting
According to an order, passed by West Bengal government on Wednesday, another IPS officer, Kolkata Police's Joint Commissioner (Crime) Debasish Boral, has also been sent on compulsory waiting.
Nagendra Tripathi and Debasish Boral's actions, including steps against miscreants, arrests, arms seizure, crude bomb recovery and voters' security, in the assembly polls in Kolkata were praised by the Election Commission of India.
After witnessing Nagendra Nath Tripathi's active and effective role on the poll days, Kolkata's media named him as a 'Dabang' police officer.
"Under the observation of the ECI and leadership of former Commissioner Soumen Mitra, Kolkata Police did an awesome job during election days. After TMC government came back to power, Soumen Mitra was removed earlier and today more two senior IPS officials have been sent on compulsory waiting. Such steps would definitely affect the morale of police force," one retired officer of Kolkata Police told IBNS.
However, Neeloo Sherpa Chakraborty, who was the SP of WB Police's Anti Corruption Branch, has replaced Nagendra Tripathi as the DC DD (II) of Kolkata Police.
Until any IPS officer becomes Kolkata Police's Joint CP (Crime), Joint CP (STF) of Kolkata Police, Vishal Garg, will hold charge of this department as well.
Besides these three, more nine IPS officers of West Bengal Police Force were transferred on Wednesday.
